continues from iraq where the american people and the british people, for that matter, were assured saddam hassan had weapons of mass destruction. britain and america are being told this man assad have used chemical weapons but haven't produced public evidence to that effect, this will not have much support with the public. how dangerous is that for president obama and indeed, other world leaders? >> i think the main reason president obama has not been more decisive is indeed the public has no appetite for some kind of broader international military engagement in syria. i think, you know, he's gotten advisories who pushed him to do that but he's resisted for that reason, and i think as you say, that the problem is that we overreact in afghanistan, we overreacted in iraq, and that has led to paralysis. but at the end of the day the approach in syria, it simply has not worked. the things that we try to prevent like the spread of the word to surrounding countries like the growing civilian slaughter, the steady escalation of the conflict, the radicalization of the rebels, those happened anyway. >> fr
